LET KIDS HELP:  Kids can get excited about the upcoming hike by helping prepare for the trip.  Take a family trip to the grocery store and let them pick out a favorite snack.  At home, let kids help put things in baggies, mix up some trail-mix, or assist in making some yummy bar cookies to bring.  Talk about the importance of water and let them help prepare their water bottles.
