Snacks are essential when hiking, especially with children. For young hikers, what they snack on is almost as fun as the hike. Here are some ideas:
LET KIDS HELP: Kids can get excited about the upcoming hike by helping prepare for the trip. Take a family trip to the grocery store and let them pick out a favorite snack. At home, let kids help put things in baggies, mix up some trail-mix, or assist in making some yummy bar cookies to bring. Talk about the importance of water and let them help prepare their water bottles.

-dehydrated fruit- cranberries, mango, appricots are my favorite
-fresh fruit- apples and grapes travel well
